Can you drink salt water? The simple answer is no. A saltwater still can catch evaporated salt water into something drinkable. Where would you ever need to drink evaporated salt water? Mexico.
Over the years, and over the many miles throughout the United States, it is not uncommon to encounter the Military. It's also not uncommon to encounter the Police or the National Guard. It's uncanny to encounter Special Forces. It's requisite to encounter Marines and the Army can be found camping on occasion.
Putting the barracks aside, there are businesses throughout the United States which would allow any person with a social security number to work in any state and be paid that same day. Many times National Guard members can be found here. Even if you can't see the forest through the trees, they can. You'll soon feel at home thousands of miles away.
Although I have never served active duty, my unofficial tour of duty includes two notable places, Fort Lewis and Camp Dodge.
When the citizens of Pierce County, Washington donated a stretch of land to the Federal Government, they had one request. They requested that the land be used for a Military Base. Some of the workmen subscribed to build the main gate of Fort Lewis themselves, which is still standing. There are strict security measures that include wide angled mirrors which check the undercarriage of vehicles entering the base. Identification cards are held by Security contractors to this day.
Camp Doge is the training ground for the Iowa National Guard. Road Barricades are found throughout the Camp and many people found at the camp will help you to navigate your way through them. Law enforcement S.W.A.T also can be found training here.
With Quantico Marine base next door, I call Fort Myer home. Eleven years old or thirty years old, riding your bicycle through here to the tomb of the Unknown Soldier requires a helmet. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Fort Myer was originally established as Fort Whipple during the American Civil War in 1863. It was renamed for Brigadier General Albert J. Myer, who established the Signal School of Instruction for Army and Navy Officers there in 1869.
